Local media said the 26-year-old chief officer of the 3,700-dwt Ulus Sky (built 2005) lost his life in the Caspian Sea en route from Astrakhan to Amirabad with a grain cargo.
Stormy weather hampered the evacuation of other crew on 13 March. A total of nine men became ill.
The vessel is listed as managed by Albruus Shipping & Trading of Istanbul.
