Local media said the 1,200–dwt Scan Master (built 1972) had run up on to a rocky beach en route to Averoy on 21 March.
Salvage efforts were postponed until at least Monday as strong winds and high seas hit the Snillfjord.
The vessel was said to be stable and a tug is at the scene. AIS data shows the ship stopped on Monday morning.
