Repairs to the 7,500-dwt cargo vessel Lysblink Seaways (built 2000) have been judged too expensive, Inverclyde Now reported.

The vessel has been towed to breakers in Rosneath by two Svitzer tugs.

It sustained extensive damage to its hull below the waterline.

Kasper Moos, vice president of technical organisation at DFDS, confirmed it would be too expensive to patch up the ro-ro.

"Therefore it has been decided to recycle the vessel," he said.
