TOTE Maritime has reportedly offered to $500,000 settlement payments to families of crew members on the sunken ro-ro El Faro.
The offer was made to families of all 33 men and women who died when the ship went down off the Bahamas on 1 October, according to broadcaster First Coast News.
TOTE Maritime spokesman Michael Hanson confirmed that the company has been in contact with families about compensation but said details are confidential.
