Salvor Tsavliris has removed some of the fuel from a grounded bulker on Mexico’s west coast, authorities said Monday.
The Federal Attorney’s Office for Environmental Protection (Profepa) said today that 150 cubic metres of bunkers were removed from the 71,700-dwt Los Llanitos (built 1993) and transferred to a tank barge.
The bulker suffered a hard grounding at Barra de Navidad, Jalisco state, during powerful Hurricane Patricia, which slammed into western Mexico last month but caused less damage than predicted on land.
