A Royal Caribbean Cruises ship was involved in the rescue of Cuban refugees over the weekend.
The US Coast Guard reported that it picked up eight people believed to be of Cuban descent from the cruise ship early Sunday, according to a Coast Guard spokesman.
The eight people floating on an improvised raft were seen by passengers and crew aboard the 3,643-berth Independence of the Seas (built 2008).
