Eleven crew have been reported missing after a Chinese cargoship sank off the Philippines.

The PhilStar website said the 8,000-dwt Fortune Life (built 1981) went down near Vigan on Thursday.

Two Chinese vessels and two planes joined in the search for the men over the weekend.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that eight other seafarers had been rescued.

The crew comprised 18 Chinese and a Vietnamese.
