The severe list of an abandoned Cido Shipping car carrier has stabilised and there is no water ingress, French authorities said.
But the country’s Maritime Prefect for the Atlantic said Smit Salvage experts were unable to safely board the 3,340-ceu pure car carrier Modern Express (built 2001) to evaluate the ship, which is some 311 kilometres west of La Rochelle in the Bay of Biscay.
