A Consorcio Naviero Peruano (CNP) containership has sailed from Panama after an incident that saw the boxship strike a canal lock.

No containers were affected by the casualty involving the Peruvian shipowner’s 1,730-teu CNP Paita (built 1998), Hapag-Lloyd said today.

The ship is expected to arrive in Cartagena, Colombia, today.

The German line operator, which utilises the Peruvian-flag boxship in its network, had told customers Monday that the vessel was held up at Cristobal anchorage off Panama’s Caribbean coast.
