A Carnival Cruise Lines vessel has rescued 16 suspected migrants while on a Caribbean cruise.

The rescue by the 2,050-berth Carnival Sensation (built 1993) was revealed by a professional American football player on his Instagram account.

“We just stopped for this boat with 16 people in the middle of the ocean,” wrote Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Patterson, a passenger on the ship. “Waiting for coast guard now.”
