A New Zealand ro-ro master has been charged over a collision that damaged his vessel in 2011.



He has been named as John Henderson, despite a plea from lawyers that revealing his identity would leave him open to the odium faced by Francesco Schettino, captain of Costa Concordia.

Henderson was skippering the 1,350-lane-metre Bluebridge freight and passenger ferry Santa Regina (built 1985) when it collided with a berthed boat as he reversed into a Wellington wharf on the night of 26 July.
