The owner and manager of the MSC Flaminia reached an agreement with New Orleans Terminal (NOT) to freeze the southern front of the battle over the deadly explosion on the containership.

US District Judge Carl Barbier, of the US federal court in New Orleans, approved the hold on Friday.

A shipowning affiliate of Germany’s Conti Group and manager NSB Niederelbe had filed the lawsuit last year against Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC)-controlled NOT on claims associated with the terminal’s role in storing and handling containers of the hazardous monomer divinylbenzene (DVB).
