An ill seafarer was airlifted from a Matson boxship off Alaska by a US Coast Guard (USCG) chopper.
The incident took place on the 2,890-teu Maunawili (built 2004) on Thursday, 230 miles south of Cold Bay, the USCG said.
The air crew hoisted the 20-year-old man and transferred him for onward to transport to Anchorage for medical care.
The Maine Maritime Academy cadet was suffering from pneumonia and respiratory complications.
