A Panama-flagged vessel has run aground off a Philippines island and caused damage to coral reefs.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said the 50,472-dwt Belle Rose (built 2011) got stuck off the Malapascua island yesterday.
An inspection team found that the ship’s hull was completely resting on the seabed.
PCG added that “an estimated 483 metres of stretched coral reefs on Monad Shoal were found to be damaged”.
