Canadian investigators said the grounding a Great Lakes bulker was due partly to poor response time from the ship’s crew and vessel traffic management procedures.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) said “delays in responding” contributed to the grounding of 39,400-dwt bulk carrier CWB Marquis (built 2014)   after the vessel dragged anchor due to contact with an ice floe.

The vessel, which operates for the Canadian Wheat Board, sustained minor damage in the grounding near near Beauharnois, Quebec.
