The Paris MoU group of port state control countries has highlighted a downward trend in ship access bans during 2015.

Its latest figures reveal 11 vessels were barred from Paris MoU waters last year, down from 20 in 2014.

Over a three-year period of time, 45 vessels were banned for multiple detentions, with five barred a second time.

Twelve failed to call at a repair yard, and three sailed without authorisation while detained.
