The city government of Naga in the Philippines wants compensation after a cargoship hit a coastal boardwalk.

The Inquirer daily said the 700-dwt Unilink 2 (built 1985) slammed into the path after it was swept ashore by strong winds on Tuesday.

Naga officials are preventing the ship from leaving until a payment has been made.

The owner, Unilink Shipping Corp, has agreed to have the damage assessed.
