The Houston Ship Channel was closed earlier today due to a fire that broke out on an aframax owned by Hellenic Tankers.

Firefighters put out the blaze on the 107,131-dwt Aframax River (built 2002) in less than an hour.

US Coast Guard Petty Officer Dustin Williams tells TradeWinds that low sulphur diesel fuel has stopped spilling from the tanker, but the channel remains closed while authorities carry out pollution and damage assessments.

He
