A new row over the UK flag’s safety standards has erupted, with firefighting measures on car carriers operated by Zodiac the latest controversy.



Officers’ union Nautilus UK claims the government’s interpretation of a Solas regulation on the siting of a room for firefighting equipment shows “a reckless disregard for safety”.



The union has focused on the 46,800-gt, 4,900-unit Morning Miracle, the first in a series of car carriers delivered to Zodiac Maritime Agencies last year from the Xiamen yard in China and originally earmarked for the Liberian flag.
