The Australian authorities are taking court action against the owner and master of the 8,823-dwt chemical carrier, Botany Trust (built 1998) over an oil spill that polluted the Great Barrier Reef two years ago.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) said fines of up to AUD 1.1m ($592,000) could be imposed if the vessel was found to have caused the spill.
