Australia’s commodity export facilities on the north Queensland coast are in lock down mode ahead of the landfall of Cyclone Debbie on Tuesday.
The storm is expected to cross the coast south of Bowen as a large category four cyclone, with winds reported to have hit 270km an hour.
Waves of up to eight metres were recorded off Mackay overnight. This has reportedly only happened three times in living memory.
