Malaysia has extended a ban on bauxite mining for a further three months as it looks to halt environmental damage caused by excessive mining.
“The extension of the moratorium will give space to industry players to clear existing stockpiles and prepare measures to mitigate pollution across the bauxite mining and export chain,” said Natural Resources and Environment Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
