Six crew seized from cargoship

Nigerian gunmen take seafarers hostage after raid 21 miles offshore.

Six seafarers have been kidnapped from a general cargoship off Nigeria.

The unnamed vessel was underway 21 miles south of the coast on Wednesday when gunmen boarded, the IMB's piracy reporting centre said.

The remaining crew sailed the vessel to Bonny anchorage.

The Nigerian navy is investigating the case.

Last month an LNG carrier and its crew emerged unscathed from another piracy attack off Nigeria.

The BW Group owned and managed 150,000-cbm LNG Lokoja (built 2006), which is on long-term charter to the Nigeria LNG project, is understood to have come under fire after leaving the Bonny LNG terminal.
