Mining giant BHP Billiton is putting its weight behind unmanned vessels.
It wants to carry iron ore and coal on autonomous bulkers as it seeks partners for technological changes.
“Safe and efficient autonomous vessels carrying BHP cargo, powered by BHP gas, is our vision for the future of dry bulk shipping,” vice president of freight Rashpal Bhatti said on its website.
