An Indonesian general cargoship has been forced aground in a storm.

Local media said the 6,600-dwt Kutai Raya Dua (built 1989) was beached on 14 June on the eastern coast of Pulau Buru island.

The ship was not loaded at the time, and was due to take on a cargo of logs.

Operator Kutai Timber Indonesia was trying to bring in a tug to help refloat the vessel.
