German giant Oldendorff has come to the charter market for a pair of panamax bulkers as the Baltic Dry Index edged closer to the 1,000 point level on Thursday.

It has fixed the 82,800-dwt Yasa Pioneer (built (2006) and the 82,250-dwt Bahia 1 (built 2010) on four to seven month contracts, the Baltic Exchange reports.

A rate of $10,750 per day is being placed on each of the charters, which is a fraction above the $10,093 per day in the improving spot market today.
