Evangelos Marinakis’ Capital Maritime & Trading Corp has flipped a profit on a second capesize bulker in quick succession, in a deal that sees the Greek shipowner become a stakeholder in Angeliki Frangou’s Navios Maritime Partners.
Privately owned Capital has sold the 179,900-dwt Asterix (built 2010) to Navios Partners in a $28.8m deal, market sources say. It represents a swift asset play for Capital, which bought the ship as the ER Boston in September 2016 for $20.5m
