Japan's growing biomass power generation capability is creating fresh shipping business as the country imports more woodchip, pellet and waste feedstock to fire an increasing number of clean energy plants.
It is unclear just how much of Japan’s wood biomass fuel is being sourced from abroad as the figures tend to be included with general woodchip imports by the country’s paper mills.
