Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) is making a comeback to the dry bulk shipbuilding sector after an absence of almost two decades fresh from a near $1bn containership order this week.

The market is alive with talks that the South Korean shipbuilder has included a design for a 325,000-dwt ore carrier in its portfolio and is competing with compatriot shipyards Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and DSME as well as Chinese shipbuilders for orders.
