The global revival in dry bulk shipping is boosting business for both international and domestic shipowners on the St Lawrence Seaway, one of the biggest markets for Canadian shipowners.

It is a sharp turnaround from last year when the St Lawrence Seaway saw cargo volumes drop by a double-digit percentage.

Rainer Bollhorn, a shipbroker at Gibson Canadian & Global, says last year’s downturn idled Canadian-flag vessels during what is usually the peak shipping period.
