A cargo of explosives seized on a Greek cargoship in Crete this week was not illegal, the vessel's owner has said.

Theodoros Rellos told the AMNA news agency that the arms had been offered storage in Misrata, Libya, but the company had chosen not to go.

A total of 29 crates of explosives and detonators had been confiscated on 8 January from the 2,200-dwt Andromeda (built 1979).
