Private equity-backed Interocean of Argentina has boosted its fleet with the purchase of a modern post-panamax bulker.

US shipbroking sources said the company bought the Cosco Zhoushan Shipyard-built 92,000-dwt Tansanit (built 2011). The Buenos Aires-based outfit purchased the seven-year-old vessel for some $17.2m from German investors headed by the Conti Group.

Interocean and Conti did not reply to requests for comment.
