Freight operator SwissMarine made another play at older tonnage as it took a 14-year old capesize from Tai Chong Cheang (TCC) at a healthy rate for two years.
The 175,531-dwt KWK Providence (built 2004) will be delivered at Qingdao for a 22 to 24 month term starting this April. The rate is $17,250 per day.
This will be SwissMarine's second period charter this week, after the 171,877-dwt Star Lady (built 2005) was taken for a one-year period at 93% of Baltic Exchange's capesize rate index.
