US President Donald Trump made official plans to impose tariffs on some $60bn worth of goods the US imports from China, triggering warnings of a reciprocity from the world's second largest economy.

In public remarks, President Trump said the move aims to curb an “out of control” trade deficit with China. The US imported about $375bn more in goods from China than it exports.
