The Great Lakes-St Lawrence Seaway region witnessed a surge in construction material trade this summer, with a 38% increase in asphalt from the same time last year, as well as increases in cement and stone.
“Summer is the season for construction projects and ships have been delivering materials for major building projects across the region,” said Bruce Burrows, president of Canada's Chamber of Marine Commerce.
