A patrol plane spotted a 20km-long slick on Tuesday morning 120 nauticalmiles off Penmarc’h.
The 23,200-dwt Mikhail Kutuzov (built 1979), operated by Murmansk Shipping,was ordered into port.
It is now anchored in the harbour.
The vessel was heading from Poland to Morocco.
