Inthe third quarter total transatlantic shipments increased to 860,000t,according to Wood Resources International (WRI).

TheSeattle-based consultancy says the dramatic increase has been driven by the rapidexpansion of production in both the US and Canada.

WRIsays the growth is expected to continue with numerous plans for addingcapacity, particularly in the southern US.

Pelletexports from the US South alone have skyrocketed over the past two years quadruplingto 485,000t, according to WRI’s North American Wood Fiber Review.
