DVB dismisses the notion the new breed of more efficient vessels will create a two-tier market in the near term.
“The threat of increased contracting of ‘eco-friendly’ vessels is likely to exacerbate the pressure being seen on older less efficient vessels,” it said in an update on the large bulker trades.
“We believe that such vessels will not earn a premium for their superior fuel efficiency but instead they will command the market rate,” researchers at the bank wrote.
