The seizure of the 55,700-dwt Fortune Wing (built 2011) follows a million-dollar legal dispute with Archer Daniels Midland that stems from collision in the Mississippi River.

According to documents filed in the Eastern District of Louisiana, the vessel lost control and struck a fleet of barges controlled by the US commodities giant on 30 May.

The plaintiff believes the collision was a result of a mechanical failure or negligence and believes the operator should cover the cost of damages and legal fees.
