The Oslo-listed owner said it would employ K2’s nine-strong panamax team from Tuesday.
This is effectively the whole of K2 in Oslo, according to Western’s CFO Havard Furu.
K2 will also re-let an unspecified number of chartered-in bulkers to Western, plus some cargo contracts.
Furu told TradeWinds that most of the small K2 fleet would move to Western – all panamaxes.
K2 reportedly had a fleet of more than 20 ships last year, but this has been reduced significantly.
