World crude steel production for the 65 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (WSA) was 141mt in March 2014, an increase of 2.7%.
Elsewhere in Asia, Japan produced 9.7mt of steel, an increase of 2.9% over March 2013. South Korea saw production jump 8% to 6.1mt.
In the European Union, Germany and Italy saw production levels increase 6.1% and 8% to 4mt and 2.4mt
