Lauritzen formally put pen to paper on a deal for the two 34,000-dwt vessels at a ceremony in Copenhagen yesterday.
Delivery of the newbuildings from Namura’s Hakodate yard is slated for 2017, a statement said.
Peter Borup, president of Lauritzen Bulkers, explained: “The newbuilding contract not only confirms our strategy to maintain and develop our solid position in the handysize segment but also our very strong relations with Namura Shipbuilding and Hakodate Docks.”
