The 3,800-dwt Burcin (built 1983) had just left the Turkish port of Mersin when it was raided late on Sunday night following a tip-off, the RFI website said.
Authorities said the migrants, most of them Syrians, were taken into custody on Monday.
Turkey’s semi-official news agency Anadolu reported that four Turks and 11 Syrians suspected of human trafficking have been detained.
Local media claimed the traffickers had transferred the migrants to Burcin from smaller vessels.
