Quadra has fixed the 178,000-dwt Gotia (built 2012) on a three to six month contract at $6,800 daily, the Baltic Exchange reported today.
The rate compares with the $4,600 available in the spot market today and the $5,000 daily recorded in the year to date, Clarksons Capital says.
The deal emerged on a day when the Baltic Dry Index halted a six-day winning run, slipping by a single digit to 600 points.
