Some 4.4mt of the aluminium making commodity were shipped into the country last month, a 47% increase on February.
Market participants attributed the rise to growing demand from Chinese refiners, as well as increased shipments from main suppliers, including those based in Malaysia.
“Supply from Malaysia rose to about 1.5mt in March, compared with 1mt in the previous month,” one industry observer said.
