Egypt’s Suez Canal has earned more revenue from fewer ship transits in October as bulker numbers dropped.

The waterway’s authority banked $449.2m last month, against $448.8m in September.

But ship voyages declined from 1,515 to 1,500, with vessels of 85m gt passing through, down from 86.6m gt the month before.

Cargo volume was 68.6m gt, down from 70.6m gt.

Tanker transits rose to 388 from 352, but bulkers fell to 258 from 293.
