Diana Shipping has made its first visit of 2016 to the sale and purchase market snapping up a trio of bulkers from a company controlled by chief executive Simeon Palios’ daughters.
New York-listed Diana is to pay $39.8m for the vessels that make up the full trading fleet of Alpha Sigma of Greece.
Anastasios Margaronis, president of Diana, said the vessels had been secured at distressed prices not seen for the past 15 years.
