A team of Japanese shipyards and owners will combine to help bankrupt Daiichi Chuo Kisen come out of Tokyo District Civil Rehabilitation process as a going concern.

The Japanese bulk carrier operator has been given an extension until the end March by the Tokyo Court to come up with a financial plan, including the selection of a sponsor.

Daiichi is reported to be in the final stages of negotiation with an unnamed group of private owners and yards over a rescue plan with a deal expected to be tied up shortly.
