Three prominent shipowners have locked in period work for capesize bulkers as the Baltic Dry Index chalked up its latest record low today.
SwissMarine has hired Diana Shipping’s 174,261-dwt Semirio (built 2007) at $4,800 per day over 11 to 15 months.
This is less than half what Diana had been earning from the vessel which spent the past year on charter to Rio Tinto at $10,000 per day.
