Global Ship Lease (GSL) reduced its bottom-line loss in the third quarter despite a $29.4m impairment charge on the value of two of its ships.

The New York-listed containership owner reported a net loss of $23.7m during the period, which was an improvement on the $41.1m a year earlier.

But the company's adjusted net income grew to $5.24m in the quarter, up from $3.62m
